The Folklore Library and Archive is a registered charity (no: 1203418) based in Devon, in the United Kingdom. We are dedicated to the collection and preservation of folklore materials in all formats, and our charitable objectives are to make these available through open access for the education and benefit of all.
Our physical base at the public library in the Devon town of Crediton houses our reference print library and document archives, as well as some of our physical artefacts. These can all be consulted by researchers and members of the public by arrangement.
Where copyright allows, we are committed to digitising as many of our documents as possible, and we also have image, audio and visual archives as well as hosting born-digital materials.
Our website provides more information on our Special Collections and also the research projects that we run to identity and gather material.
We have many opportunities to work with our materials through volunteering, which can be done either in-person in the archives or remotely. To find our more about what we do, please contact us via the form on our website.
